In Sincan Prison, some of our friends were subjected to the torture of a strip examination; they faced direct insults, humiliation, and threats due to their sexual orientation and gender identities.
We are deeply concerned for the lives and safety of our friends from Kaos GL who were arrested and sent to Sincan Prison. From the very first moment, our imprisoned friends have been subjected to ill-treatment and torture throughout their detention and arrest processes.
Our friends, who would not spend a single day in a closed prison even if they received the maximum sentence, were arbitrarily arrested under the guise of precautionary measures.
Some of our friends were held in the homicide bureau's detention cells. Although the charges in the file against Kaos GL members are limited to obscenity and violating the law on associations, and there is no evidence to be collected in this context, they were forcibly taken for a drug test at 5 AM. They were subjected to physical torture that went beyond the scope of a standard test. Some of our friends had their hair forcibly cut.

Following the arrest decision, which is in clear violation of the law, our friends taken to prison were deliberately separated from one another and placed in different locations. Half of our friends are currently being held in direct solitary confinement. Our friends who have special health conditions and require regular medication for their treatments have been denied access to these medicines.
Furthermore, we learned that a group of our friends had to be hastily transferred to another prison because their safety could not be ensured in the first prison they were sent to. Due to the smear campaigns served to the media by the Ministry of Justice, the safety of our friends inside the prison cannot be secured.
The rights violations and inhumane practices in the prison did not end there. Some of our friends have not been able to access clean clothes or any hygiene products for a full week. Only boiling water is available for showers. Inside, even their most basic human needs, including access to clean drinking water, have not been met. They have still not been able to shop at the canteen for their basic necessities.
We do not accept these conditions and rights violations that are incompatible with human dignity. We urgently call on the authorities to fulfill their duties and reiterate our demands:
The strip searches, insults, humiliation, and all forms of ill-treatment experienced during the detention, transfer, and arrest processes must end immediately.
Our friends must urgently be granted access to all their basic needs, primarily clean drinking water, hygiene products, clothing, and the medications necessary for their treatment.
The safety of our friends must be guaranteed without delay; solitary confinement must end, and they must all be kept together in their current prison campuses without the presence of other inmates.
This is a political case. Just as our friends should not be held in solitary confinement, they must not be sent to general criminal wards that could jeopardize their safety; it must be immediately ensured that they stay together without the presence of others.
The Ministry of Justice is responsible for any adverse events that may occur.
We stand by our friends against oppression and rights violations, and we will persistently follow every stage of this process.
