Imprisoned trans activist Umut Derin sent a message from Sincan Prison, saying, “We have taken up the flag. Don’t lose hope.”
Trans activist Umut Derin, a member of the Kaos GL Executive Board who was arrested as part of the “My Family Is Safe” operations, sent a message from Sincan Prison.
In the message dated September 17, Derin said they were doing well and added, “We have taken up the flag.”
“For those wondering about us, we are doing well. If we did not disappear after what lubunyas went through in the 1980s, we will not disappear now either. We have taken up the flag, lubunya. I think everyone has now come to understand that might does not make right. We will show this once again. Don’t lose hope. I’m here, my love.”
