T24, an independent online newspaper in Türkiye, faces closure over 118 articles characterized by prosecutors as “LGBT propaganda.”
As part of the “My Family Is Safe” investigation conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, a closure order was issued for the website and social media accounts of T24, an independent online newspaper in Türkiye. The decision, issued by the Istanbul 1st Criminal Judgeship of Peace, was sent to the Cybersecurity Directorate for implementation.
The Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office cited 118 pieces of content published by T24 over the past year as the reason for the decision. The prosecutor’s office characterized the content as “LGBT propaganda.”
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office issued the following statement:
“As part of the ‘My Family Is Safe’ investigation being conducted by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, the website and social media accounts of the online news outlet T24, which produced 118 pieces of content characterized as LGBT propaganda over the past year, were shut down by the Istanbul 1st Criminal Judgeship of Peace. The decision was sent to the Cybersecurity Directorate for implementation.”
